Transition Tattenhall - New Year Challenge

With a new year we need a new challenge! Climate change demands that we do not just leave it to politics or science to solve the problems we are all going to face.

If change is to be soon, and have an impact for a better future, then we all need to find our own way to move from words and ideas to action.

To do this we each need to be clear what matters most to each of us.

When we know, does it require that we take decisions and actions to support that purpose.

This Purpose Finder Tool might help you understand if climate change is a priority for you and at least be clear what it is that gives you purpose in living here in Tattenhall.

The Purpose Finder

Six questions. Ten minutes. A little more clarity.

Purpose isn't something you discover in a flash of lightning. It's something you uncover, slowly, by paying attention to what already moves you.

Answer these questions honestly. Don't overthink. Write the first thing that comes to mind.

  • Not petty annoyances - real anger. Injustice you can't ignore.

Problems that make you want to do something.

  • When you look up and hours have passed. When it doesn't feel like work.

What are you actually doing in those moments?

  • Not 'sit on a beach' - that gets boring.

What would you actually spend your days DOING if you didn't need to earn?

  • Friends, colleagues, strangers online. What do they come to YOU for?

What do they think you're good at?

  • The thing you keep thinking about but haven't done.

The idea that excites and terrifies you in equal measure.

    What is it?

  • Fast forward to the end of your life.

Looking back, what would you be most disappointed to have never attempted?

Now look at your answers.

Is there a thread running through them? A theme? Something you keep circling back to?

That's probably where your purpose lives.

Not a job title. Not a goal. But a direction. A thing you care about enough to keep showing up for.

Write it down - even if it's messy:

  • I care about ...

  • And the first small step I could take toward it this week is ...

Hope isn't something you find. It's something you build.

One small act of courage at a time.
