Growing Children: Review by the Headteacher

A review from Mrs N. Bolton, Headteacher

Tattenhall Park Primary is blessed with abundant grounds and the opportunity to develop areas for growing.

The Growing Children project has ignited a real passion for gardening and the outdoors amongst our pupils.

Nurtured areas such as wildflower patches have been used in the teaching and learning of plants in science.

We have held our very own version of 'Cook Off' using school produce and a real highlight has been the exploration of the giant pumpkins grown in our pumpkin patch - our EYFS were fascinated by the seeds inside!

Our garden area is a valuable resource across the curriculum. Studying real plants and seeds in class and observing their growth is a valuable experience.   Our school believes that 'hands on ' contextualised experiences are a powerful learning tool and we are very grateful to the amazing Growing Children volunteers, who have inspired many of our children to grow their own produce at home after taking part in school and Gardening Club activities.
