Nick Benefield, Chairperson

I have lived in the village since 1995 and have had a career in the public sector until 2024.

I think that the impact of climate change is the single most important issue facing us all in the coming years. I believe that we can all make a difference to the future and make Tattenhall a more sustainable place to live. Each of us can do something to help but I think that taking part and collaborating with others is essential – alone is not enough. I want to be part of making it happen in our village.

Peter Radley, Treasurer

I have lived in Tattenhall since 1993, and spent a career in the chemical industry before retiring.

I have been involved in Transition Tattenhall since its start. It is clear to me that as a society and village, we need to consume less, buy less stuff, look after each other better, make sure none of us are in need, and live to care for our environment and the future we are giving our children. I am hopeful that we can avert disaster and make a positive change in the direction our lives, our society and the planet as a whole is headed.

Annette MacDonald, Director

Annette McDonald is a driving force behind community-focused, environmentally responsible development across Cheshire, combining deep expertise in landscape stewardship, climate resilience and collaborative placemaking. As Director of Sustainability and Strategic Partnerships at Tatton Estate,  Annette champions climate resilience and landscape led place making projects ensuring growth is grounded in ecological sensitivity and long-term community benefit.

Her passion for creating greener, healthier places is reflected in her leadership of multi-partner initiatives including the Greater Bollin Trail, a strategic green corridor strengthening connections between people, wildlife and local heritage, and the Cheshire Living Landscapes Partnership, which unites landowners, local authorities and environmental organisations to restore biodiversity, improve access to nature and support thriving rural communities.

Annette serves on the National Policy Committee for the Environment at the Country Land and Business Association, chairs the Cheshire Local Nature Partnership and is a member of both the Cheshire & Warrington Business Advisory Board and the Mid Cheshire Growth Board. She is impact-driven, collaborative and committed to shaping places that prioritise wellbeing, sustainable transport, nature recovery and strong, connected communities.

Adele Evans, Administrative & Membership Secretary

I was born and educated in Tattenhall and despite living in other parts of Cheshire, I returned to the village several years ago. I have always been involved with the village as I managed T G Builders Merchants on the outskirts of the village before retiring in July 2025.

I am a member of the team running the Repair Cafe and I am also a volunteer litter picker in and around the village.

I joined Transition Tattenhall because I believe now is the time to take action both individually and as a village on climate change and community resilience. Community is key for me as together we can ensure our village adapts to changing conditions, engaging with vulnerable and marginalised groups to ensure they have access to at the very least, village resources and social connections.

Martin Cooke, Partnerships

Until the Cooke family moved to Tattenhall in 2000, Martin had not taken the growing of fruit and veg too seriously: but having had a few lucky firsts in the Tattenhall Garden Show, he is now very keen; and with growing has come composting and recycling on a broader front. And rather than putting on the heating, he puts on an extra sweater.  He is now an enthusiastic elder of Transition Tattenhall.
